FLORENCE, Ala., April 22 -- University of North Alabama issued the following news release:
The North Alabama men's and women's tennis teams each finished play at the 2009 Gulf South Conference Tournament with a 1-1 record over the weekend in Montgomery. Both teams advanced in the opening round play before falling to Valdosta State in the semi-finals.
On the men's side, the Lions opened play with a 5-0 victory over the West Division's second-seeded Harding at the O'Conner Tennis complex. UNA took the early lead by sweeping doubles play, including a pair of 9-8 decisions at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
