Article: ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT ISSUES REVISED DRAFT HAZARDOUS WASTE PERMIT FOR LOS ALAMOS NATIONAL LABORATORY

SANTA FE, N.M., July 8 -- The New Mexico Department of the Environment issued the following news release:

The New Mexico Environment Department released for public comment this week a revised draft hazardous waste facility permit for Los Alamos National Laboratory that governs the lab's operation of 26 hazardous waste management units and the closure of three disposal units at the facility.

The department received voluminous comments on the draft permit issued on August 27, 2007. The revised draft permit issued this week is a result of nearly a year of addressing those comments through numerous meetings with people who requested a public hearing on the 2007 draft permit.
