JUNEAU, Alaska, July 16 -- The Alaska Department of Natural Resources issued the following news release:

UPDATE 7/16/2009 - Shanta Creek Fire Will Host Fire Camp Tours on Saturday The Incident Command Post for the Shanta Creek Fire will be open to the public for tours on Saturday, July 18th, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The tours are designed to give the public an idea of what goes on behind the scene at a fire camp.

Also known as the base camp, the Incident Command Post (ICP) provides the support for the fire. Located at Skyview High School, the Shanta Creek ICP provides meals, supplies, financial record keeping, communications, medical care, and much more. The public is welcome to come see how ...
