Article: Rep. Braley Introduces Plain Language in Health Insurance Act

WASHINGTON, July 24 -- Rep. Bruce L. Braley, D-Iowa, has introduced the Plain Language in Health Insurance Act of 2009 (H.R. 3050), legislation that would "enhance citizen awareness of insurance information and services by establishing that insurance documents issued to the public must be written clearly."

The bill, introduced on June 25, was co-sponsored by Reps. Harry Teague, D-New Mexico; Mark H. Schauer, D-Michigan; Gary C. Peters, D-Michigan; Eric J. J. Massa, D-New York; Peter Welch, D-Vermont and Betty Sutton, D-Ohio. It was referred to the Energy and Commerce Committee.
