SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 23 -- The California Department of Education issued the following news release:
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell today announced the appointment of Dr. John Bernard as the State Administrator for the King City Joint Union High School District in Monterey County. The state takeover of the district is required by law after the district was granted a state loan to avoid bankruptcy.
"Although a state takeover of any school district is a very serious matter, I encourage everyone to look upon this as an opportunity," said O'Connell. "Dr. Bernard has the talent and experience and my full support to get King City Joint Union High School District ...
