Article: San Miguel to stay in core business-'Danding'

SOUTHEAST Asia's largest food and beverage conglomerate will not leave its core business despite its entry into non-traditional industries, its chairman said on Thursday.

Eduardo "Danding" Cojuangco Jr., San Miguel Corp. (SMC) chairman and chief executive, said the conglomerate's diversification into power, petroleum, infrastructure, water, property, banking and telecommunication sectors is for the good of the company and its shareholders.

"[But] we will be in it [core business]. I will guarantee one thing, we will not be out of our core business as long as I am the chairman of San Miguel," Cojuangco told reporters on the sidelines of its annual stockholder meeting.
