AUSTIN, Texas, July 28 -- The Texas General Land Office issued the following news release:
Tar balls that have peppered the lower Texas coast continue to drift north, but Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson said Tuesday Texas General Land Office Oil Spill officials are preparing to clean the beaches before they even arrive.
"While we still don't know the source of this oil, it is definitely drifting north," Patterson said. "Texas General Land Office Oil Spill Prevention and Response teams are working with U.S. Coast Guard officials to have crews on standby, ready to clean the beaches, wherever the tar balls wash up."
