WASHINGTON, July 31 -- Rep. Daniel Lipinski, D-Ill. (3rd CD), issued the following news release:
On Thursday, Research and Science Education Subcommittee Chairman Dan Lipinski (IL-03) held a hearing on Chicago's exemplary efforts to improve science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education through the collaboration of the public and private sectors. Along with representatives of Chicago Public Schools, Abbott, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the National Science Foundation, the committee heard from Chicago's first lady, Maggie Daley, chair of the nonprofit organization After School Matters, which works to engage young people in STEM fields through a variety of programs.
