Article: 'Tourism will blossom in Baton Rouge'

Baton Rouge, the tourism industry might as well be called the visitor industry.

Though the city does get a share of people who check out the Old State Capitol and other sites, most come to town for sporting events, business meetings, conventions and trade shows.

That hasn't changed much in the past 15 years, although there have been more people coming to Baton Rouge recently to take a chance at the local casinos.

The visitor industry--some prefer to call it the tourist industry--has grown in the past 15 years and is an economic force for the parish.
