In an effort to significantly reduce energy costs, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Hawaii employees are making upgrades to lights and fixtures at the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange (NEX) using the newest in lighting technology.

A five-man electrician team is upgrading approximately 2,400 overhead light fixtures inside the NEX building. Replacing existing bulbs, diffusers and reflectors, with the newest generation of lighting technology is expected to yield an estimated cost savings of $137,000 per year.
