Article: CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES ON DAMAGED PORTIONS OF EAST FORK ROAD

DURANGO, Colo., Aug. 3 -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's U.S. Forest Service unit - San Juan National Forest - issued the following press release:

During the month of August, two construction projects will occur on Pagosa Ranger District along the East Fork Road (NF System Rd 667). Repairs were completed in July to an additional section of East Fork Road that collapsed in 2008, and is located about 2.5 miles east of the slide.

In May of 2008, a large landside was reactivated in the East Fork area. The landslide was roughly 40 acres in size, 600 feet wide, 3,500 feet top to bottom and moved a few feet each day. The slide directly affected the East Fork Road , which was moved ...
