ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Aug. 3 -- The University of New Mexico issued the following news release:

The University of New Mexico volleyball team recently received the 2008-09 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The Lobos, under the direction of head coach Jeff Nelson, were one of 71 NCAA Division I women's teams to maintain a 3.30 or higher cumulative team grade point average (g.p.a.) during the 2008-09 academic year.
