DES MOINES, Iowa, Aug. 7 -- The Iowa National Guard issued the following news release:
A public ceremony will be held Aug. 15, at 3 p.m., at the Denison National Guard Armory, 12 North 35th St., Denison, Iowa, in order to present approximately 120 Soldiers of the Iowa National Guard's Company D, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry Regiment the Meritorious Unit Commendation for exceptional service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The public and media are welcome and encouraged to attend the ceremony.
Co. D, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry is based at Denison. The unit's core mission is to conduct close combat with enemy forces and provide security of key terrain, facilities, and installations.
