ANCHORAGE, Alaska, July 29 -- The Anchorage Police Department issued the following news release:

One of the most frustrating experiences in Law Enforcement is going to court on even a relatively minor matter such as a driving citation and hearing a defendant or defendant's witness lie under oath without consequences. Driving home the point that you have the right to remain silent but not to lie under oath, the Anchorage District Attorney's office and a couple APD officers have begun to work cooperatively to stop perjurers in their tracks.
