Article: Hamlin doubles up at National DRAGSTER Challenge

NORTH STAR DRAGWAY, Denton, Texas (May 23) - The dragway finally held its National DRAGSTER Challenge after the first scheduled event was postponed because of rain. The event had the largest turnout in the track's history.

After the first round of eliminations, there were 324 racersvying for the $10,000 payout and their chance to take home a Wally. Rain delayed the event during the second round, but racing resumed shortly after midnight.

In the Super Pro final, Daryl Hamlin Jr.'s Hardens dragster put together a .018-second package to defeat Clif Loveless and take home the Wally. Russell Cook and Joe Resley were semifinalists.
