Article: Improving NCLB?: RAND Presents Education Policy Briefs to Obama Administration

In July 2007, during the early stages of his run for the presidency, then-Sen. Barack Obama gave a speech to the National Education MM BAssociation at its annual meeting. In it, he provided some insight into his thoughts regarding the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), which at the time was up for renewal.

"For too long, our politics has been stuck in a cycle where we praise our educators in speeches and photo-ops, but then abandon them when it comes time to offer the resources and the support you need to do your jobs," said Obama.
