WASHINGTON, Aug. 31 -- The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation issued the following special alert:

Allegiance Bank of North America, Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 031918543, which is assigned to Allegiance Bank of North America. A security feature statement is embedded in a darkened top border. The words "Construction Disbursement#" are displayed in the lower-left corner.
