CHEYENNE, Wyo., Aug. 11 -- The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality issued the following news release:
Death records and law enforcement statistics illustrate that abuse of prescription medication is a growing problem in Wyoming, according to the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
A review of official death records kept by the WDH Vital Statistics Services Program from 2005 through 2008 shows there were 50 deaths linked to prescription drugs in 2005, 90 in 2006, 96 in 2007 and 103 in 2008. During the same period of time there was only one Wyoming death linked to heroin and nine linked to cocaine. Numbers represent cases where ...
