COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Aug. 28 -- Texas A&M University issued the following news release:
A Wichita Falls couple, Max R. Vordenbaum, a 1973 Texas A&M University graduate, and his wife Shana, believe in "paying it forward," so they have funded the $100,000 M.A. Vordenbaum Memorial Scholarship, created through the Texas A&M Foundation to benefit his alma mater.
Scott A. Malave, a junior mechanical engineering major from Amarillo, received the first scholarship made possible by the new endowment. One key Vordenbaum scholarship qualification for Malave was that he lived at Cal Farley Boys Ranch when he graduated from high school. "I haven't met the Vordenbaums," Malave said, "but ...
