The Philippine Shipping Line Association (PLSA) has expressed fear that the continued grounding of the vessels of the two largest shipping companies would hamper investments in the transport sector.
Joy Maitim, the association's executive director, warned of a "shortage" in passenger vessels, particularly for long-haul trips, because Sulpicio Lines Inc. and SuperFerry of Abotiz Transport System Inc. are still grounded.
In a statement, Sulficio Tagud Jr., chairman and chief executive of Nenaco, also expressed concern over the continued grounding of the Aboitiz vessels.
