"COMPOST QUEEN" CONNECTS AT CHEF'S COLLABORATIVE 2000
There I was, groggy in the predawn darkness, speeding down winding roads in the hills of southern Vermont with big trucks bearing down behind me. I was an unlikely messenger in a white pickup truck with big, red tomatoes on the doors, a liaison between two seemingly unrelated worlds. I had just spent two days in Albany, New York at the BioCycle Northeast Conference '97 and was on my way to the last day of the Chef's Collaborative 2000 annual retreat at Alyson's Apple Orchard in Walpole, New Hampshire.
Now I have to say that originally, I was not all that enthusiastic about giving up the first two days of feasting and organic discourse ...
