PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 18 -- The U.S. Department of Justice's Federal Bureau of Investigation Portland Field Office issued the following press release:
Investigators believe the man dubbed the "River Rat" bank robber hit again this afternoon, this time with a violent take-over-style robbery at the Albina Community Credit Union located at 5636 NE Sandy Boulevard in Portland. In this case, he walked into the bank, ordered everyone to the ground while displaying a black handgun, and leaped over the teller counter to get to the cash drawers. No one was hurt.
This same man is suspected in as many as six other bank robberies in Oregon and Washington, and about the same number of check cashing ...
