AMARILLO, Texas, Sept. 21 -- The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center-Amarillo issued the following news release:

John C. Baldwin, president of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, resigned his position today (Sept. 18).

Baldwin cited personal reasons for his decision.

Texas Tech University System Chancellor Kent Hance said, "I wish John the best. I appreciate his service to the Health Sciences Center."

Baldwin will serve as advisor to the chancellor on health care issues and will continue as a tenured professor at the School of Medicine.
