Article: Marina allows five Aboitiz ships to sail

FIVE passenger vessels of Aboitiz Transport System Corp. (ATSC) have been allowed to sail again, a week after the shipping firm's operations were suspended over the September 6 sinking of the SuperFerry 9, in which 10 people died.

Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) Administrator Ma. Elena Bautista said an audit of the seaworthiness of the SuperFerry 2, 12, and 19 and Cebu Ferry 1 and 2 found only "minor problems."

SuperFerry 2, 12 and 19 ply the Manila-Cebu route, Cebu Ferry 1 and 2, the Cebu-Ormoc, Cebu-Cagayan de Oro, Cebu-Nasipit routes.

The SuperFerry 1 and 5, the MV Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, the MV Our Lady of Rule and MV Our Lady of Good Voyage have not yet been allowed to operate.
