ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 24 -- Kari-Matti Laakso of Pietarsaari, Finland, and Andreas Berts of Korsholm, Finland, have developed an isolated measurement circuit for sensor resistance. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,592,820 on Sept. 22.
The patent has been assigned to ABB Oy, Helsinki, Finland.
According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A circuit and method is disclosed for measuring the resistance of a resistive sensor, such as a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) or negative temperature coefficient (NTC) temperature sensor used for monitoring the temperature of the windings of an electric motor.
