Insurance companies differ in their processing and settling of claims, according to the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association (PIRA).
The association on Tuesday gave The Manila Times a glimpse of how four of the country's top ranking nonlife insurance companies-Mapfre Insular, Prudential Guarantee, Generali Pilipinas and Federal Phoenix-process and settle claims.
Mapfre Insular claimants must advise Mapfre Asian through telephone, fax, telegram or text message and an adjuster will be dispatched to help the insured. The details, however, can be found in the policy contracts.
For building claims, Prudential Guarantee requires a civil engineer's or architect's detailed estimate ...
