ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 5 -- John L. Sigmund of Holland, Ohio, and Thomas C. Gilbert of Clarklake, Mich., have developed a highly ventilated soffit with obscured ventilation openings. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,594,362 on Sept. 29.
The patent has been assigned to CertainTeed Corp., Valley Forge, Pa.
According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A ventilating component for a building, particularly a ventilating soffit, provides a high ratio of ventilation flow area to component coverage area.
