Article: PROFESSOR RITTMANN GETS TOP BIOINDUSTRY RESEARCH AWARD

TEMPE, Ariz., Oct. 5 -- Arizona State University issued the following press release:

Bruce Rittmann, a professor in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment, has won the 2009 Award for Research Excellence from the Arizona BioIndustry Association.

Rittmann is director of the Center for Environmental Biotechnology at the Biodesign Institute at ASU.

He is an international leader in using microbes found in nature in ways that can benefit the environment or human health. His research team tackles some of the world's leading problems related to water, waste and energy.
