Article: CH Energy plant in Auburn to come online soon

AUBURN--A downstate energy company plans to finish work by the end of the year on a landfill-gas-powered electric plant in the city of Auburn.

CH Energy Group, Inc. (NYSE: CHG) of Poughkeepsie is building the facility and will own and operate it Its agreement with Auburn allows the company to sell the plant to the city after 15 years.

The project is the company's first that will take gas from a landfill and burn it directly to create electricity. The firm, the holding company for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. and Central Hudson Enterprises Corp., is working on a somewhat similar project in Pennsylvania that removes gas from a landfill and then feeds it to a natural gas pipeline.
