Article: Major telecom, broadcast firms remit a billion in fees to regulator

TELECOM, broadcasting and cable television (CATV) operators have paid more than a billion pesos in regulatory fees to the National Telecommunications Commission in September.

Data from the agency showed that a total of P1.008 billion of supervision and regulation fees (SRF) were paid by telecom and broadcasting firms as of the end of last month.

Of the total, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) paid the highest fees at P343.66 million, followed by Globe Telecom, P169.31 million; Innove Communications Inc., P99.16 million; Pilipino Telephone Corp., P71.21 million; Smart Communications Inc., P68.81 million and Bayan Telecommunications Inc. P56.83 million.
