ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 12 -- Curt B. Campbell of Hercules, Calif., and Gilles Sinquin of Saint Martin du Manoir, France, have developed a process for preparing a synthetic petroleum sulfonate. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,598,414 on Oct. 06.
The patent has been assigned to Chevron Oronite Co. LLC, San Ramon, Calif.
According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A process for preparing a synthetic petroleum sulfonate comprising (a) reacting a first amount of at least one aromatic compound with a first amount of a mixture of olefins having from about 8 to about 100 carbon atoms, in the presence of a strong acid catalyst; reacting the product of ...
