ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 29 -- Melvin Bernard Diaz of La Palma, Calif., and Tsutomu Tommy Ogawa of Torrance, Calif., have developed an in-vehicle navigation system with removable navigation unit. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,606,660 on Oct. 20.
The patent has been assigned to Alpine Electronics Inc., Tokyo.
According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A navigation system includes an in-vehicle portion and a removable navigational unit, where the removable navigation unit is a portable device with navigation capability on its own.
