ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- Masao Kano and Noriyasu Amano, both of Gamagori, Japan, and Shinsuke Takakura of Kawasaki, Japan, have developed a fuel vapor treatment system. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,603,990 on Oct. 20.

The patent has been assigned to Denso Corp., Kariya, Japan.

According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An ECU computes a transit time from a time when the fuel vapor passes the purge valve right after the purge valve is opened until a time when the fuel vapor reaches a vicinity of the fuel injector.
