ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 29 -- Takuya Nezaki of Aichi, Japan, and Yoji Suyama of Tokyo, have developed an air belt apparatus. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,604,253 on Oct. 20.
The patent has been assigned to Takata Corp., Tokyo.
According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An air belt apparatus for use in a vehicle is provided to improve the comfort of the webbing during normal operation by thinning the webbing that passes through a shoulder anchor, while extending a developing length of an expanding portion upward when the expanding portion is expanded.
