Submarines and Navy divers have played integral roles in United States naval heritage since as early as the late-19th century.

Today, with approximately 23,000 square feet of exhibit space, more than 17,000 artifacts, and a research library with about 6,000 books on naval undersea history, the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport, Wash. helps to preserve the fabric of naval undersea heritage.
