WASHINGTON, April 8 -- The office of Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., issued the following news release:
In a letter to US Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Senator Kent Conrad today called for an extension for North Dakota's ranchers to use federal conservation land as they cope with severe flooding and late-season winter storms that have wreaked havoc with livestock in the middle of calving season.
Senator Conrad called the extended availability of Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) land critical to the health of North Dakota's ranching industry.
