A great many Brandon parents should be very glad to know that the city's daycare services got a big shot in the arm yesterday.

As the Sun reports today, the province announced nearly $1 million in funding to expand and renovate existing facilities and create 197 new spaces at five daycare centres across the city.

The province is also investing $86,000 in new equipment, accessibility and enhanced green space for 19 centres in Brandon.

Marianne Thiessen, the director of the Brandon University Early Learning Centre, found herself in a bit of a happy daze following news of the facility's $200,000 grant.
