ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 30 -- Terry A. Seyler of South Jordan, Utah, and Macmillan M. Wisler of Kingwood, Texas, have developed an adjustable shear valve mud pulser. The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. RE40,944 on Oct. 27.

The patent has been assigned to Baker Hughes Inc., Houston.

According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A telemetry system involving a shear-type mud pulser valve as the preferred embodiment is described. The control system includes a motor driver for the mud pulser which, in essence, moves one movable plate with respect to a stationary plate to create openings of various sizes.
