DETROIT, Oct. 30 -- The city of Detroit issued the following news release:

For many senior citizens in Detroit who are homebound, do not have a strong family support unit, and have limited resources, winter can be a difficult time. To help seniors fight the cold of winter, the City of Detroit Senior Citizens Department will hold a blanket drive and silent auction on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 2 p.m.- 5 p.m. at the Northwest Activities Center Grand Ballroom, 18100 Meyers Rd. The blankets will be disturbed to homebound seniors throughout the holiday season. An After-Glow Reception will immediately follow the blanket drive from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. All ...
