LONDON, Nov. 4 -- The Office of Prime Minister, First Lord of the Treasury and Minister for the Civil Service issued the following press release:

The best teachers from around the country have celebrated their achievements at a reception in Downing Street today.

The 2009 Teaching Award winners include exceptional teachers, headteachers, teaching assistants and school governors.

Among the group are Gold plato winners, who scooped top awards at the Teaching Awards UK ceremony ten days ago and 60 silver plato winners. The winners of the DCSF Award for Sustainable School of the Year 2009 also attended.

Speaking at the reception, the Prime Minister said:
