James Purnell ("Labour still has one life left", 19 October) is wrong to suggest that the Tories accept "social justice". No party that offers an inheritance -tax cut for the 3,000 wealthiest families in the country could ever deserve this description.
What Purnell should have written is that conservatism all over the world - is dying. In Scandinavian countries, traditional conservatism is being destroyed by radical, populist, right-wing parties, and in much of Europe the left of centre is in the ascendancy.
