JOPLIN, Mo., Nov. 5 -- Missouri Southern State University issued the following news release:
Dr. Jean Stringam, associate professor of English at Missouri State University, will present "Turn-of-the-Century Canadian Literature for the Young and Dutiful: Each Time Has to be the First Time when Re-experiencing Anne of Green Gables" at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 12 in Corley Auditorium in Webster Hall.
Maybe Lucy Maude Montgomery didn't go far enough to satisfy 21st century feminists, but where she has taken us for the last 101 years has inspired more than theme parks around the world. It has been the genesis of private devotion for generations of young women who still love that red-haired girl.
