DIAMOND BAR, Calif., Nov. 1 -- The Office of the Mayor of Diamond Bar issued the following text of the mayor's statement:

As we celebrate Veterans Day this November 11, I would like to ask the Diamond Bar community to pay special tribute to our Veterans and their families and friends, for their commitment to our country and the many sacrifices they have made. Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, was created over 90 years ago to commemorate the end of World War I and honor Veterans of the armed forces. Every year since, cities and towns across the nation have paid tribute to our Veterans in their own unique ways.
