MONTGOMERY, Ala., Nov. 3 -- The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs issued the following news release:
Gov. Bob Riley has awarded grants totaling $387,689 to support programs in the Montgomery area that help youths avoid lives filled with drugs and violence.
The funds will help organizations continue 10 youth service programs in Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery counties.
"Children must receive positive guidance to grow into productive, responsible citizens," Riley said. "I commend these organizations for investing in Alabama's future by showing students the strong benefits of a life free from drugs and violence."
The organizations receiving grants are:
