WASHINGTON, Nov. 5 -- The office of Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., issued the following news release:

Today, U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand introduced a congressional resolution honoring the New York Yankees for beating the Philadelphia Phillies and winning their 27th World Series, the most wins of any major league sports franchise. The resolution recognizes and honors the Yankees for their storied history, for their many contributions to the national pastime, and for continuing to carry the standards of character, commitment, and achievement for baseball and for the State of New York.
