GREENWOOD, S.C., Nov. 4 -- Lander University issued the following press release:
Lander University has appointed Greenwood native Mary Hughston to be the coach of its equestrian team, which is in new quarters at Lander's Equestrian Center at Burton Center in Greenwood.
Hughston's horsemanship experience began when she took her first riding lesson at the age of 9. Her two older sisters were riders and she wanted to follow in their footsteps. "I was hooked," she said, adding that she took part in her first equestrian competition just a month later. She still competes, primarily in the hunter and jumpers category.
