Article: CAPTURING BLACKBEARD THROUGH CONSERVATION

GREENVILLE, N.C., Nov. 5 -- The North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources issued the following news release:

November was a big month for the pirate Blackbeard. He captured the vessel La Concorde in November 1717, and renamed her Queen Anne's Revenge. He died in a battle against Lt. Robert Maynard with the British Royal Navy in November 1718. The wreck of the purported Queen Anne's Revenge was found near Beaufort in November 1996. On Nov. 20, 2009, researchers will show how they are bringing Blackbeard back to life at the QAR Conservation Lab in Greenville.
