GENEVA, Nov. 7 -- Russell L. Yeckley, United States of America, has developed an alpha-beta sialon ballistic ceramic armor.
The patent has been assigned to Kennametal Inc., Latrobe, Pa.
According to an abstract posted by the World Intellectual Property Organization: "A SiAlON ceramic armor made from a starting powder mixture. The ceramic armor contains between about 60 weight percent and about 98 weight percent alpha SiAlON phase that contains an alpha SiAlON-bound rare earth element and ...
