Article: Deserted new born baby breathes new life

Sri Lanka, Nov. 10 -- A new born infant, abandoned by the mother in a bush, had been rescued and is now safe and sound at the hands of the hospital nursing staff.

The District Medical Officer- Dr. D.W. Kalutota has named the baby as 'Akash'.

Akash had been brought to the Morawaka hospital by the Police officers of Pitabeddara, on November 4.

The infant had been discovered in a thicket in Buluwana in Pitabeddara.

An estate labourer who went to his manioc cultivation, had come across the baby. He had then rescued the baby and handed over to the Police who in turn had sent the infant to the Morawaka Divisional Hospital.
