BOSTON, Nov. 9 -- The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection issued the following news release:

As part of the Massachusetts Recovery Plan to secure the state's economic future, the Patrick-Murray Administration today awarded $302,000 in grants to four municipalities and five private waste haulers to retrofit 132 diesel waste collection vehicles serving 62 communities across the Commonwealth.

"Our MassCleanDiesel program targets vehicle emission reductions that protect the health of our citizens," Governor Deval Patrick said. "These grants will result in cleaner air in the neighborhoods where these waste trucks operate every week."
